Status Report - 2016.08.21 - Receiving Early "Test Shots" As Production Nears
over 7 years ago – Mon, Aug 22, 2016 at 12:46:18 AM

We've received some photos of test shots (plastics) from the manufacturer.  We will have our hands on them this week.  If all looks and functions well, production will begin in earnest very soon.

Note: We have added a few new milestone sections to the status report graphic below.

Current work

Zeus Editions - We will be working the next few weeks on finishing preparation of the remainder of the components for the Zeus Editions.

Timelines - Organizing everything for prepress has taken 2 weeks longer than anticipated.  As such we've adjusted the milestones above.  Currently it still looks like there is a good probability that we will be able to get the games shipped to you by the end of November.  However, it is quite possible that some fulfillment spills into early December.

Physical Proofs - Now that all of the digital proofs have been approved, we move on to physical proofs.  We have some photos of "test shots" from the manufacturer that we've spliced into a collage below, but we'll take some better photos when we actually receive the proofs.  Note, the components are only blue because it is a proof.

What is a "test shot"? - Previous images of components that you've seen show 3D printed components.  A "test shot" is a plastic sample created by the manufacturer using the actual plastic molds that will be used in the creation of the final product. We will actually be trying some acid etch textures on the buildings to give them a good matte finish, to allow us to more closely match the stucco texture of the buildings of Santorini.

Don't worry, the components won't all be blue! This is a proof!

Status Report - 2016.08.07 - Files Submitted to Manufacturer!
over 7 years ago – Mon, Aug 08, 2016 at 12:46:58 AM

We've completed another milestone this weekend.  The print files have been submitted to the manufacturer!

Current  Work

Artwork & Graphic Design - Milestone Complete, yay!

Proofing - We will now work with the manufacturer this week to make any final tweaks to the graphics so that we can receive digital proofs.  Once this is complete, we will move into full on into production phase, as well as focusing on the organization of Zeus copy production.

GenCon

Paul is on his way home right now from GenCon, where he has been demoing his face off for the last 3 days.   Thank you to everyone who came down for a demonstration, and thanks again to Kickstarter and the Cards Against Humanity guys for hosting us!

Status Report - 2016.07.24 - Surveys Locked down
almost 8 years ago – Mon, Jul 25, 2016 at 12:12:07 AM

Current Work

Survey Lockdown - We have locked down the BackerKit surveys. For those who have added extra items to their orders, we will not be processing those payments until closer to fulfillment (if you did not add anything extra in BackerKit, you do not have to worry about this). If you need to add something to your order, please email [email protected] and if there is still time, we will certainly do our best to accomodate the request.

Rulebook - We are performing a final set of edits to the rulebook.  Once these are complete, we will finish off the diagrams, and it will be ready for submission to the printer.

Storybook & Prepress Layout - There is still a bit of cleanup to do for the Storybook as well as some file layout for the printers.  We are hoping to have this all wrapped up by the end by August 1.

Manufacturer Samples -  We've received box samples for the Golden fleece expansion box as well as the Santorini game box.  Our intention is to have all the base and expansion components fit nicely into the box while minimizing air.

GenCon

Paul Saxberg of Roxley Games will be at Gencon demoing Santorini! As getting Santorini to the manufacturer in good time is our primary concern, Gavan will be staying behind to hold down the fort and continue working away.

Paul will be joining the awesome folks from Kickstarter and Cards Against Humanity In room 143.  A big thank you to them for hosting us!  See the map below if you are going to GenCon and would like to demo Santorini while you are there!

Status Report - 2016.07.11 - First Draft Rulebook Complete
almost 8 years ago – Mon, Jul 11, 2016 at 05:13:13 PM

Print & Play files have now been delivered to Print & Play level backers as we continue our journey toward submitting the files to manufacturer.

Current Work

Print & Play - The print and play has now been delivered to backers.  If you would like a copy please email [email protected] requesting it.

Rulebook - The first draft of the rulebook has been completed.  You can look at it here: roxley.com/santorini-rulebook .  This rulebook draft has not yet been edited, so it may contain errors. The rulebook is still missing some diagrams, which we will be working on this week.

Survey Lockdown - We wanted to ensure everyone had ample notice to adjust their pledges before we lock down surveys, so we extended it an extra week.  We will be locking down the surveys tomorrow.

Storybook & Prepress Layout - Now that we have completed the first draft of the rulebook, we will be working on finishing up Story Book, and the remaining layouts for the manufacturer.

Gencon - Roxley will not have a booth at Gencon, but we may be able to attend to demo Santorini.  It is not a certainty, but is quite probable.  We will let everyone know in our next update!

A while back we were contacted by Matthew from Targ’s Workshop, requesting our permission to construct a 3D printed version of Dr. Gordon Hamilton’s Santorini for visually impaired gamers.

The results are here, and they are beautiful: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1661379

Matthew has a ton more awesome 3D Printing videos, that you can see on his youtube channel.  Thank you so much for sharing, Matthew!

Status Report - 2016.06.27 - Survey Lockdown Coming
almost 8 years ago – Mon, Jun 27, 2016 at 12:34:37 AM

Because there is now less flux in the project week-to-week, we will begin sending out status reports on a bi-weekly basis until the game is delivered to you.

Apologies for the delay in delivering the Print and Play.  We were unable to deliver it last week, as our team was unfortunately side tracked with a few manufacturing tooling issues, which are now resolved. When these come up we need to deal with them immediately, as tooling represents the largest time requirement before production, and tooling bottlenecks can easily delay an entire project if not dealt with swiftly.

We have revised a few of the dates above due to a few recent bottle necks. It is still early, but we feel even with the recent delays we are still on track for November delivery.

Current Work

Print & Play - The print and play file is now complete!  We are currently reviewing it internally before sending it out.  We plan on sending this to Print and Play level backers no later than Wednesday June 29 11pm MDT.  Once we confirm that all Print and Play level backers have received the file and are not having issues, we will allow other level backers to receive the file on a per-request basis.

Rulebook - The design style for the rulebook is now done, and we are in the process of ingesting content into it.  Roxley believes that a strong rulebook is the cornerstone for production quality.  As such, we dump a huge amount of time and effort into our rulebooks' writing, editing, layout, and diagrams.  Because of our amazing volunteer editors, we have saved a huge chunk of time with the writing and editing.  We hope to have an initial draft with at least a few diagrams prior to sending out the Print and Play file on Wednesday.

Survey Lockdown - This week is the last week to manage your pledges.  There are still 5% of backers who have not filled out their surveys.  If you are in this 5%, we would really really appreciate it if you could submit your survey as soon as possible!
